Straight to the Streets
Bethesda Mission’s fully-equipped “Samaritan Service” vehicle is the flagship of our street ministry. The Mobile Mission unit is managed by part-time staff and supported heavily by a committed team of volunteers who bring hope and critical help to Harrisburg’s street population.
Some of the services provided by the Mobile Mission team include the following:
- Blankets
- Sleeping bags
- Warm clothing
- Food
- Hot coffee
- Water bottles
- Prayer
The Mobile Mission makes its rounds every Friday and Saturday evening between 6:30pm and 9:30pm.
For a variety of reasons, there is a segment of the homeless population that chooses not to take advantage of the shelters available. These men and women have often been homeless for over a year and present some of the most challenging, yet rewarding cases. In the “business” they are known as the “chronic” homeless. Many people have expressed that an evening out with Mobile Mission was one of the most transformative experiences of their lives.
