Fireproof a life

In 2015, the Kurzenknabe printing company directly adjacent to the old Fire Station was purchased, and in August 2019 a wonderful celebration was held with hundreds of guests to praise God for completion of the gymnasium, teen center, computer lab and outdoor space. That was Phase I – a significant expansion of our facilities. For those of you who have been following Bethesda Mission’s efforts to fully complete The Vision at 15th and Herr in the northern section of Allison Hill, now is the time to fully realize this milestone. The prospect of providing modern facilities that will attract and serve hundreds of children, teens, and adults for many years to come is certainly an exciting legacy project. Much of this project has been inspired by the three youths in Daniel 3. Because of their faith in God, those three boys from Israel were shielded from the flames that were meant to destroy them! An angel of the Lord stood beside the three and prevented the fire from harming them. This powerful story parallels what we desire to do at the Community Center: build a foundation of faith in the young people God has entrusted to us so that when they face the trials, the flames will not derail their lives, and they will have someone standing beside them through it all. Join us in preventing these children and teens from entering our shelters as adults.

I am excited to see the fruit of this endeavor, anticipating the huge difference it will make in the lives of our youth and preventing the difficulties and heartache we see so many adults experience at Bethesda’s shelters. You’ve been an integral part of “fireproofing” lives for the past 30 years out of the old fire-station-turned-youth-center, but now we need your help to complete the expansion and reach more kids and families.

Help Bethesda reach this Vision at 15th and Herr in the ‘Burg!

You can fireproof a life!

Sincerely,

Scott Dunwoody

Executive Director
