COMMUNITY CENTER STUDENTS PACK THANKSGIVING FOOD
BAGS FOR FAMILIES IN NEED
Harrisburg, PA –– Bethesda Mission’s Community Center, located at 1438 Herr Street, is involved in a special project again this year. On Friday, November 17, 2017, from 4:00-5:30 p.m., the children will be packing 500 food bags to be distributed to those in need during this Thanksgiving holiday season. About 20 children will be involved in the project, demonstrating God’s love and compassion for others.
“The children and teens at our Community Center come from homes with significant challenges, and yet we ask them to pack food bags to help others whose challenges may be even greater,” stated Scott Dunwoody, executive director of the Mission.
Dunwoody continued, “Our gifted and dedicated staff come alongside these kids nurturing them to understand the value of helping others. The community generously donates the food so these needs can be met during this holiday season.”
“Packing food bags is one of the student’s most favorite activities. They are learning how to love their neighbors and to support their own community. Together, we are working to create unity that will build a thriving community,” said Serina Brown, director of the Community Center.
The contents of the bags were entirely donated by local churches, schools, and businesses and are intended to supply all the necessary ingredients for a hearty, family Thanksgiving meal. The 500 bags, along with 500 turkeys, will be picked up for distribution by designated community partners on Monday, November 20.
