BETHESDA MISSION TO HOST “COMMUNITY DAY” AT COMMUNITY CENTER!

Harrisburg, PA – On Saturday, May 11, Bethesda Mission will host “Community Day” from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Community Center located at 15th and Herr Streets. This free, family-friendly event will include gospel music performances, a moon bounce, face painting, games, and food. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

“Community Day is an opportunity to let our neighbors know that Bethesda Mission Community Center desires to, not only be a building within the community, but to love and support them when needed,” Community Center Director Serina Brown said.

“What a difference this Community Center has made in this northern section of Allison Hill for nearly 30 years,” Scott Dunwoody, Executive Director of the Mission, added. “We are looking forward to the completion of the building project which will enable Bethesda to more than double the number of children and families served.”

The facility at 1438 Herr Street, which has been serving the surrounding community since 1990, is currently undergoing a major expansion and renovation project, allowing Bethesda Mission to reach even more children, teens, and families over the coming years.

MEDIA WELCOME AND APPRECIATED!

Bethesda Mission has been meeting the needs of hurting and homeless people for over 102 years.  Providing shelter for an average of 100 men and 25 women and children in two facilities in the city and an after-school program, Monday – Friday at our Community Center, located at 15 & Herr Streets, the Mission served nearly 130,000 meals and assisted over 3,000 separate individuals just last year!
