Bethesda Mission Announces Christmas Plans

BETHESDA MISSION ANNOUNCES CHRISTMAS PLANS
Harrisburg, PA – Bethesda Mission will host a festive dinner for those in need on both Christmas Eve and Christmas day at its Men’s Shelter located at 611 Reily Street. Preparations are being made for approximately 200 people served by over 50 volunteers, and anyone in need is encouraged to attend.
“Bethesda means ‘House of Mercy’ and that is what is offered all year long to hurting men, women, and kids at Bethesda Mission,” said Scott Dunwoody, executive director. “At this special time of Christmas, all people in our community are welcome to come for a festive time of encouragement around wonderful meals where caring volunteers will serve them and guests of the Mission with love and grace.”
Christmas Eve dinner on December 24, 2018 will be provided, prepared, and served entirely by the Hilton Harrisburg from 4:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M. Dinner on December 25, 2018 (Christmas day) will feature ham, turkey, greens, macaroni and cheese, and desserts thanks to donations from the community. It will be served from 4:30 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. by over 50 volunteers.
Christmas gifts will also be distributed. Members of the community in need will receive gifts on December 24 during dinner, while staff members will distribute gifts to shelter residents on December 25 at 9:00 A.M.
For those unable to come to the Mission for a meal due to age or health, deliveries are available upon request to residences within a five-mile radius of the Men’s Shelter. To schedule a delivery, please call Bethesda Mission at 717-257-4442 by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21st.

Bethesda Mission has been meeting the needs of hurting and homeless people in Harrisburg, PA for over 103 years. Providing shelter and recovery counseling for an average of 110 men and 25 women in two facilities, as well as after-school and summer programs for local children and teens, the Mission served nearly 130,000 meals and assisted over 5,000 separate individuals just last year!
