The new Women’s Shelter officially opens
August 18, 2022 – Bethesda Mission celebrated the opening of the new Women’s Shelter. The $4.4 million building allows Bethesda to impact up to 51 women and their children (more than double the capacity of the old shelter) and comes after 7 years of planning, fundraising, and construction. The building includes a library, play areas for children, an exercise room, large communal spaces, and a beautiful sun room. It will serve not only as a place of physical rest but as a place of spiritual growth and transformation for years to come.
The facility offers comprehensive programs to transform the individual:
- A Young Adult Program provides short-term housing to 18- to 24-year-old women and has the flexibility to deliver recovery and restoration while allowing participants to continue their work or academic pursuits.
- Long-term Recovery Programs seek to prepare participants with the skills needed to thrive outside the Mission through individual and group counseling, a 12-step program, discipleship opportunities, parenting training, finance and budgeting class, and nutrition and exercise lessons.
- An on-site Medical and Dental Clinic provides clients with treatment for their health care needs.
Thank you to everyone who made this building possible!
