Applying for a Position
Bethesda Mission is chartered as a non-profit Christian organization serving the poor and homeless of central Pennsylvania. In keeping with the nature of this charter, only Christians are hired, which is supported by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII, Section 702(a) as amended in 1972, whereas a religious corporation is exempt from the prohibition of religious discrimination. Therefore, as a bona fide occupational qualification, the first qualification for employment with Bethesda Mission is to provide a Biblically sound testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to lead a life worthy of that profession.
All Bethesda Mission staff are expected to conduct themselves in a way that glorifies Jesus Christ at all times, including non-work hours.
This is important in order to keep our Christian witness before our clients and the community. Prior to submitting an application, it is important for candidates to read, understand and agree to the following information:
- Bethesda Mission’s Code of Conduct
- Bethesda Mission’s Statement of Faith
- Document on Sexual Sin and Brokenness
