A Wonderful Christmas (at Italian Lake)

Christmas is, without a doubt, the most wonderful time of the year for many Americans. It provides a chance to reconnect with family and friends. Beautiful lights and decorations fill the house and yard, and even on the coldest days, there is still an indescribable warmth that permeates the season.

For the past six years, Bethesda Mission has been holding an event on the second weekend of December: Christmas at Italian Lake. Through this event, we bring the holiday spirit to the Harrisburg area and have the opportunity to fundraise for and share about our organization with thousands of people throughout the region.

This year, we had sleigh rides, a craft market, an elves’ workshop with Christmas movies, popcorn, and crafts, a petting zoo, pictures with Santa, and much more. Over 500 people made s’mores at our s’mores tent during the first five hours of the event!

Despite the weather early on Sunday, that day was an overall success as well. In total, we estimate around 5000 people came to the two-day event!

Thank you to everyone who attended, especially those who volunteered! Creating the Christmas at Italian Lake experience takes enormous effort and teamwork, and we would not be able to do it each year without the help of those serving with us!
